Fran’s book, Digging Deep: Unearthing Your Creative Roots Through Gardening, now considered a classic, was groundbreaking when published as no one had written about gardening in the context of creativity, spirituality, and transformation.
In addition to being a recognized garden expert and deep ecologist, Fran is also a broadcaster, journalist, Ordained Interfaith Minister, and Soul Tender. All of her work is based on her deep belief that our need to connect to the earth is an inherent trait – and that by doing so, we heal and experience more joy in our lives.

Great quote and there you are working hard in the garden. Looking forward to spring so I can get out and plant. My yard needs so work these days!
Cathy- The early spring flowers are in bloom. I chose to use bulbs and do the rest from seed for my window boxes. When I saw the ones in the neighborhood filled with a riot of color with store bought plants, I reminded myself to have patience. And boy- is it ever worth it- my seeds have germinated and are now growing rapidly ~ I can only imagine what they’ll be like in a few weeks. The bottom line is that gardening is an act of patience -from season to season, we need to accept what it offers us and marvel at the beauty it brings into our world. Fran
The spring is comming and the plants is growing to make our enviroment more beautiful
A change in the weather is sufficient to recreate the world and ourselves. Marcel Proust
Jennie- I’m always excited when Spring blows its trumpet and makes a grand entrance. Thank you for another Marcel Proust quote. Fran
Love the spring – even here in Florida the trees are dressed in their brightest, freshest green of the year. Although I do sometimes miss the snowdrops and daffodils from jolly old England.
Gardeners of the heart, just as important I know…and the gardeners who create beauty in my life equally touch my soul. Thanks for sharing your wonderful gardening pics and ideas Fran.
Love Elle
xoxo
Elle – Spring has begun here with the orange trees blossoming and fruits appearing, flowers cropping up, etc. The air smells delicious and clean. This is the season about new beginnings – how can you not love it? Fran
One of my favorite quotes!!
Why am I not surprised?
