What To Do When Your Intuition Whispers In Your Ear

‘Walker, there is no path, you make the path as you walk.’ ~ Antonio Machado

This past year I’ve been feeling that I’m on the verge of a big change.

My intuition whispers in my ear that it is time for me to leave my nest. To explore.

‘Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves.’ Rainer Maria Rilke

The first stop is a trip to Ecuador – a ‘no words’ can describe trip created and operated by The Pachamama Alliance.

‘What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.’  ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

It’s an incredible opportunity to spend time with the Achuar people of Ecuador’s Amazon rainforest, one of the most remote and intact indigenous cultures on the planet. We will directly experience their land, knowledge, and wisdom.

The 9 people with whom I am traveling have shown up at this time and place because they feel called to do so. I can hear it in their voices, in the words they speak and write. They are on a quest ~ as am I.

I will be out of touch with the Western world – no phone, no computer, e-mail, FB, Twitter, and blogging. For three weeks.

I embark on this journey with Beginners Mind ~ and a knowing that being in the rainforest and spending time with the Achuar people is the best gift I can give myself.

My intuition says it is so. I am listening.

NOW IT’S YOUR TURN. Share an experience where your intuition gave you a ‘nudge’ and you listened. What were the results?

    Hi Fran,

Sounds like a wonderful opportunity to experience something amazing. You sound like you are being called to go, so there must be a reason. We will miss hearing from you when you are gone, but look forward to having you share your experiences.

Cathy – I am for sure. I’ve traveled a lot over the years. There is always the anticipation of the unknown and yet to be discovered. But this trip feels very different! Fran

I completely understand “The Call.” Years ago I pulled up all the roots of my corporate life in Boston when my intuition screamed, “Go west and do something with horses.” I landed in Colorado where I met my husband and created the most amazing life.

I also had a last minute opportunity to spend over a month in Costa Rica. Although my circumstances at the time were far from ideal, I went anyway and had the most amazing experiences that I’ll never forget. That trip transformed my ideas about travel and experiencing other cultures.

Fran, I can’t begin to imagine what’s in store for you. Full immersion into another culture with such an amazing group of people. Yes, your life will be changed – in ways you can’t quite fathom.

I love that you’re taking this adventure! Who knows – it may be the first of many.

    Big Hugs!!
    Paige

this sounds like an AMAZING experience and i have heard of the Pachamama Alliance too, I think. I like their dedication to indigenous tribes. I definitely love the aspects of being on a ‘journey’ or pilgrimage. Best of luck to you!

Like others, I am looking forward to hearing about your travels. For me, the first memory that came to mind was sitting in my apartment in Paris as the movers were packing everything up. The guy in charge asked me where to ship my stuff. I paused as I considered the safe answer, but instead blurted out, “Send it to Portland, Oregon.” What address, he asked. “I don’t know, but by the time the stuff gets there, I’ll have one.” And so I did. 21 years later, I’m still here.

What an awesome experience you will have it feels very special. I am reminded of back in my 20s I took the opportunity that presented itself to me to live and work in Lagos, Nigeria, I wasn’t aware if my intuition in the same way then but is was a life changing experience as I have found many travels have been, Was it my intuition that led me back in 1972 to head to Bali – still one of my favorite places to visit. Wow you post is bringing up many memories,. thank you xo

_Digging Deep_ is an inspiring self-help book that uses gardening as a metaphor. The book is well written and Sorin’s advice is rational and clear. Highly Recommended.

Lupe – Thanks for your kind words :) Fran
