It is those memories and the role that gardening and nature had in my life as a child that has most inspired me to do what I do today in the world of gardening. The sound of the screen door slamming, a dog barking or a fire siren wailing are embedded in my consciousness. The smells of irises, peonies, roses, my mother's perfume, freshly baked chocolate cake and a turkey slowly roasting on Thanksgiving Day are a significant part of my sensory memories.
I believe that so many of us are yearning for those simpler days when we had the time to appreciate the beauty that surrounded us. It is my goal to reawaken our senses so that even in this technologically inundated twenty first century, we can create a world where the pleasures that connect us to our senses are the ones that we most cherish.
